Getty Images and Shutterstock are among the image providers to be licensed for publishing purposes and so on. Recently, it was reported that both parties are considering merging the companies, thus forming a giant firm in the arena of providing images, videos and other visual content.
It is said that the presence of artificial intelligence-based image generators has an impact on business income, thus making both parties now consider merging the companies. Getty Images and Shutterstock have also started towards integrating artificial intelligence in their offerings, while also looking at licensing their content in order to train artificial intelligence models.
In addition to images and videos to be licensed, both companies also have a number of services under them. For example, Getty Images has Unsplash under them which offers free images, while Shutterstock has Envato and Giphy under them.
For now, both companies have not yet issued an official comment regarding this merger report.
