The Google Pixel 4a is a smartphone from Google that was launched in mid-2020. The last update for this device was shown earlier this year, where it runs the Android 13 operating system.
The caveat to this update is that Google also said that users of the device will experience battery issues such as weaker endurance and also poor charging capabilities. In the meantime, this latest update is also downloaded automatically when it is officially introduced.
Making things even more confusing for users is that Google has apparently removed the factory image files for the older version of the Pixel 4a operating system, and this is causing these users to live with more impaired charging capabilities.
To “help” users with this issue, Google has opened a help website to allow them to start the process of replacing the battery or provide a $50-$100 consolation prize to help with the purchase of a new Pixel device.
Unfortunately for users who imported this device, it looks like they will either have to stick with their existing Pixel 4a, or switch to a newer device, perhaps one with a longer update life.
