HDMI 2.2 to be Officially Introduced at CES 2025

A few weeks ago, we reported that the latest HDMI connection format, HDMI 2.2, would be introduced this month. This has now been confirmed by the HDMI Licensing Administrator itself, with confirmation that it will be officially introduced during the CES 2025 event that will take place next week.

More interestingly, this announcement will be made at 10 am, January 6, 2025, a few hours before AMD's keynote event, which is expected to introduce a number of new products, including their AMD Radeon RX 9000 graphics cards.

This HDMI 2.2 connection format is expected to introduce support for connections with much higher data transfer rates, especially when DisplayPort 2.1a has now been shown with support for UHBR20 with a data transfer rate of up to 80Gbps which supports 4K resolution displays with a refresh rate of up to 240Hz without any problems.

Currently, the HDMI 2.1 connection is seen to come with support for data transfer rates as fast as 48Gbps, which is fast enough to support 4K displays with a refresh rate of 120Hz.
