Apple only has two of its own monitors, the Studio Display which starts at RM6,999 and the Pro Display XDR which starts at RM19,999. Because of this, many monitor manufacturers offer alternative versions with lower prices.
BenQ DesignVue and LG UltraFine are among the third-party monitors that offer designs similar to Apple products. At CES 2025, the LG UltraFine 6K 32U990A was introduced. With a 6K resolution, it is better than the previous generation and also the Apple Studio Display which is limited to 5K. Not only that. this monitor also supports USB-C Thunderbolt 5 connection for data transfer speeds of up to 80Gbps.
The new LG UltraFine 6K also supports Nano IPS Black display mode for deep blacks like OLED. In terms of color accuracy, the display supports up to 99.5% of Adobe RGB colors and 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The full screen resolution is 6016 x 3384 with a 32-inch panel, but the refresh rate of 60Hz or 120Hz was not disclosed.
LG also brings DisplayPort 2.1 support over Thunderbolt 5, meaning this monitor can theoretically support 2x 8K displays at 60hz or 3x 4K displays at 144Hz. The selling price is also yet to be revealed, but is expected to be around RM6000.
