Meta Wants to Lay Off 5% of Employees, Including Underperformers

Meta, the parent company behind Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp is now reportedly planning to cut a number of their workforce – involving the 5% of the lowest performing employees in the company.

This move will indirectly improve the overall performance of the company, by reducing the workforce that is less performing than others. Mark Zuckerberg through a memo, said that Meta usually sets a time of about a year to evaluate an employee regarding the set goals and performance, but now they are moving fast, and will lay off low-performing employees.

With Meta doing this, it is not impossible that other technology companies will also follow suit, and lay off employees who are not performing on par with other colleagues.

Meta is seen intending to fill these vacant positions with new employees later. As usual, the affected employees will receive the appropriate compensation.
