Microsoft Now Offers Phi-4 Language Model in Open Source

Like many other tech companies, Microsoft has also developed its own language model, called Phi-4. Initially, Phi-4 was only offered through Microsoft Azure Foundry, and today the computing giant is taking a step forward by offering the model in open source.

Phi-4, as the name suggests, is a 4th generation model, and is trained using various websites in the public domain, academic books, question-and-answer datasets, and even synthetic data. It offers a 14 billion parameter build, based on Transformer.

In addition to Microsoft, Meta also offers their public language model in open source, namely Llama 3.2. The development of artificial intelligence has also seen various companies take steps to develop it in open source – thus allowing more people to contribute to the dataset and train the model to form more efficient offerings.
