MOSTI: National Remote Sensing Satellite Development Project Needs to Be Accelerated

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) already has a number of projects under them, and one of them is the national remote sensing satellite development plan. Today, it was once again emphasized that the project should be accelerated as soon as possible to reduce the country's dependence on external satellite data and technology. At the same time, the use of its own satellites will ensure that national security is more secure and strong.

Previously, the Minister shared that Malaysia will have remote sensing satellites by 2030. These satellites can easily obtain data related to the earth's surface, an object, region or phenomenon - using passive or active sensing. This will also help in various industries and economic development.

This step was once again emphasized today, in line with the Minister's target to lead the ASEAN Space Economy arena, which will cross sectors, agencies and divisions within MOSTI.

In addition, it was also emphasized that MOSTI also needs to champion technologies such as quantum technology.
