MyBorderPass App Required Before Using Immigration QR Code Scan At KLIA

The issue of long queues at check-in counters, especially for Malaysians, seems to have found an end with the introduction of QR scanning lanes this month. However, they are required to download the MyBorderPass app first for the purpose of registering travel information.

The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) explained that the app can be downloaded via the App Store and Google PlayStore. The process also needs to be done before using the quick response (QR) code system at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). At the same time, users need to perform facial verification for the verification process before starting their journey or upon arrival.

Although still new, it is hoped that this implementation will refer to improved services and reduce congestion issues that often occur at the country's entry points, especially during the festive season. In addition to being seen as having the potential to shorten immigration clearance times compared to regular automatic gates.

JIM also assured that this implementation will not affect security. Manual counter facilities and conventional AutoGate systems will also continue to be available and can be used as usual. However, passports are still required to be carried as the main travel document.
