Netflix Now Has 302 Million Subscribers and Announces Price Increase

Netflix now has nearly 302 million subscribers, an increase of 18.9 million new subscribers in the last quarter. This increase exceeds previous analyst forecasts and further strengthens Netflix's position as the world's number one paid streaming platform.

The increase in subscriptions is due to the offering of original series such as Squid Game 2 as well as live sports shows from WWE, boxing events and even the NFL. Squid Game 2 has recorded a viewing record of 68 million views per week, which is the highest record in the platform's history.

Despite successfully dominating the market, they have announced a subscription price increase in the United States, Argentina, Canada, and Portugal. Subscription fees have increased by up to 16% with the cheapest plan now offered at $17.99 per month compared to $15.49 previously. The last time Netflix raised subscription prices in the United States was in 2023.

In Malaysia, subscription prices were already increased in November last year with Netflix Basic at RM29.90 per month, Netflix Standard at RM49.90 per month, and Netflix Premium at RM62.90 per month.
