Nintendo Shows Off Next-Generation Console, Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo today officially released a short video showing off its upcoming next-generation console, Nintendo Switch 2.

This new console is seen to feature a larger design than before, including in terms of controllers. On the back of the Switch 2 console, it also offers an adjustable "foot" design like Surface, making it easier for users to set up and play games more comfortably.

The Nintendo Switch 2 also includes a new USB-C port, in addition to showing the Joy-Con controllers also have ports on the side, and can be connected magnetically. An accessory was also shown that allows the Joy-Con to be placed on it, perhaps for charging or for game control in other methods such as a mouse.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will support both physical and digital games. Some original Nintendo Switch games may not be fully supported on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo said it will share more about this console at the Nintendo Direct event scheduled for April 2, 2025. No release date has been shared, but Nintendo teased 2025, suggesting it could officially launch this year.
