No Fixed Date for Aerotrain Service to Return to Operation – Anthony Loke

Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said that the Automated Passenger Transport Service (Aerotrain) at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), which is expected to be replaced on January 31, 2025, is still in the multi-phase testing stage.

According to him, the contractors involved are still conducting several tests that include full system testing and system integration, before it can be handed over to the authorities for final testing. Although Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) previously stated that the project would be completed on January 31, but so far they have not given a fixed date or specific date for the service to return to operation.

Loke also expressed dissatisfaction with MAHB's management and delays in the project. Many parties have also urged the management and ministries involved to immediately repair the damage to the aerotrain facility because it has made it difficult for users to move around.

Aerotrain is an automated transit system at KLIA which is the only transportation system for passengers between the two terminals. Last year, MAHB announced that it would replace it with a new system due to technical problems experienced by the service.
