Nokia Smartphone Production Has Been Stopped

HMD Global has been the licensee of producing smartphones under the Nokia brand since 2016. But the era of Nokia smartphones seems to have come to an end with the HMD Global website stating that the production of smartphones such as the Nokia XR21 has been discontinued.

For the past two years, HMD Global has been marketing its own branded smartphone with the HMD Fusion model sold in Malaysia in October. The era of Nokia smartphones is over but Nokia's regular cellular phones will still be released at an unspecified date. HMD Global has stated that they will also release their own regular cellular phones.

The third iteration of Nokia smartphones after the Symbian and Windows Phone era did not go well after failing to compete with the iPhone and Android devices. The decision to use its own operating system before choosing Windows Phone which also failed put Nokia in a situation of having to catch up with other manufacturers. Like HTC, Nokia which used to dominate the market is now no longer known to the new generation.
