We have arrived in January 2025 and Counterpoint has published a report stating that Samsung is the world's number one smartphone manufacturer throughout 2024. They hold 19% of the global smartphone market followed by Apple (18%), Xiaomi (14%), Oppo (8%) and Vivo (8%). Over the past year, smartphone production increased by 4% compared to 2023.
Overall, Samsung only recorded a production increase of 1% compared to 2023. Xiaomi recorded the highest increase of 12% followed by Vivo with 9%. Oppo was the most affected with a production decrease of -8% and Apple -2%.
Previously, it was reported that iPhone sales in China began to decline, forcing price reductions to attract buyers. This was driven by the patriotism of the people who chose to use local brands such as Xiaomi, Honor and Huawei.
