Saudi Arabia Reportedly Wants to Invest $1 Billion in Sports Streaming Service, DAZN

Saudi Arabia's state-owned sports-focused investment agency is now reportedly in talks to invest at least $1 billion in a sports-focused streaming service, DAZN.

DAZN was previously available to Malaysian users, offering access to boxing, golf, football, esports, racing, and more. It has been available to local users since 2020.

For your information, Saudi Arabia is ready to make a number of large investments in the sports arena, including positioning the country as a destination for various events - including the upcoming 2034 FIFA World Cup. The investment in DAZN is expected to further complement the portfolio involving sports under Saudi Arabia. This investment is also expected to facilitate the marketing of the Saudi Pro League to the global market.

For now, both parties have not issued any official comments. An announcement regarding this investment is expected to be announced as early as January 2025.
