Spotify Denies They Pay Artists 2x Less Than Apple Music

There are many music streaming platforms on the market that offer content from various artists. Some subscribe for the music, some subscribe to support artists. Recently, there was a report stating that Apple Music pays artists 2x more than Spotify.

This report is by Duetti, a music platform that focuses on democratizing catalog monetization for individual artists. It reports on collections for the entire year 2024 and Apple Music is seen paying artists $6.20 for every 1000 streams, while Spotify is only $3.00. YouTube is $4.80 and Amazon is the highest at $8.80.

Interestingly, Spotify has issued a statement through 9to5Mac denying this. Spotify claims that no streaming platform pays artists based on streaming rates and the data in Duetti's report is inaccurate.
