This is the design of Oppo Reno13 Pro and Reno13 for the Malaysian market

Generally, Oppo will launch devices under the Reno series twice a year. Usually, devices under this series will have an attractive design with a combination of technology that is suitable for the increasingly rapid digital era. This is very much in line with the brand's own goal of choosing relevant and latest technology to ensure that the product can function well in line with current technological changes.

Recently, Oppo has confirmed that the new Reno13 Pro 5G and Reno13 5G devices will enter the Malaysian market but the official launch date still remains a mystery to this day. However, we were given the opportunity to try and take a closer look before the official launch. Here is a brief first look article about the changes and focus on this thirteenth model of Oppo devices which is increasingly challenged by closest competitors such as Honor, Realme, Poco, Vivo and Redmi.

The minimalist concept decoration combination with dominant colors of black and white is still Oppo's main choice because the decoration can be said to be neater and looks organized. It can also be easily recognized by the OPPO Reno13 and Oppo Reno13 5G branding that adorns the top of the purchase box. In addition, there is a brief description of the device on the back. When purchasing both of these new models, you will of course receive the device itself with a clear plastic wrap which is the most important item. This is followed by a protective frame, charging head, SIM ejector, manual book and USB-A to USB-C cable.

I apologize that I can only confirm that the Reno13 5G series is equipped with a Mediatek Dimensity 8350 chip while other specifications need to be kept secret before its official launch in Malaysia. This chip has a 4nm technology build with a configuration of four high-performance Cortex-A715 cores (up to 3.35 GHz) and four power-efficient Cortex-A510 cores. The Mali-G615 MC6 GPU is also used for graphics needs.

Then the StarSpeed Engine technology is claimed to reduce power consumption by up to 10% and speed up transitions between scenes by up to 24% when running in high-performance mode. As of this writing, only Oppo devices are powered by this chip, and it is seen as being able to compete with the Xiaomi 14T (MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra) and Vivo V40 (Snapdragon 7 Gen 3).

Both Reno13 5G series devices have a combination of neo-futuristic and elegant concepts. The special features of this model not only lie in the luxurious manufacturing process and design but also in its unique stylish appearance. Both devices are light and comfortable to hold, especially in one hand because of their solid construction.

The body design of both is also not much different. In fact, the flat front screen also looks wide due to the thin bezels on all four sides of the screen. The flat frame used is also able to attract many people's attention and is best built from a high-quality metal material.

But if I were asked to choose, of course the Reno 13 Pro 5G in Plume Purple color would be my favorite. Featuring a twist on the Butterfly Shadow Design concept, it really shows how matte and glossy finishes can be combined well. Each element not only provides beautiful light and shadow effects, but also creates a visual effect that resembles butterfly wings with bright light.

This doesn't mean that the Reno 13 5G in Luminous Blue is not beautiful. In fact, most of my office colleagues think that the device presents a twist with an aura of understated luxury. If we consider the build size, it is indeed more compact and smaller than the pro version.

The back panel of the device has a subtle sheen that reflects light in a different way.

The surface is also textured for a better grip experience. However, don't be fooled by the effect of light reflection around the camera bump because it is just a physical finish. It is completely different from the Breathing Light feature that was introduced on the Reno7 5G and Reno8 F 5G devices.

At first glance, it is quite difficult for me to distinguish the design of the camera module between the Reno 13 5G and Reno 13 Pro 5G. There are similarities between the two, which use a square-shaped camera module with a tri-camera system inside. Two of the sensors are large, while the third, smaller sensor is placed next to the LED Flash.

This is where the difference is most noticeable for the design of the third sensor and the size of the LED Flash. Where the size of the sensor and LED Flash on the Reno13 5G is smaller than the pro version. However, it is believed that both are capable of taking and producing high-quality photos.

The standard button layout on both devices is the same as several previous models. The power button and audio knob are placed on the right side while the left side does not house any ports and buttons. Infrared emitter support is also still provided on the top side along with a grille for stereo speakers. The left side does not house any ports and buttons.

Meanwhile, the USB-C port, speaker grille and dual nano-SIM tray can also be found on the bottom side of the device. Once again, there is no support for the 3.5mm audio jack that has been removed since the Reno5 Pro 5G model. But what really steals the attention is of course the IP69 waterproofing which should be able to protect the device from high-pressure water damage.

That's all the sharing to briefly understand about the Reno13 Pro 5G and Reno13 5G for now. As mentioned, all further details including internal hardware and official retail price will only be revealed after the official launch. A full review will also be published later in an upcoming article.
