This weekend will see the final decision for TikTok, whether it continues operations in the US or not. According to a previous court order, TikTok must cease operations or sell its operations to a company in the US by January 19, 2025.
After that date, Apple and Google must remove the app from the US app stores. Bytedance has tried several steps, including challenging the order in court. It is not yet known whether Bytedance will choose to sell its US operations or not. Some rumors also say that Bytedance is now ready to wind down operations and stop TikTok in the US.
Although not yet confirmed, analysts are now targeting that if Bytedance chooses to sell, then it could value TikTok's US operations at around $50 billion. In the US alone, TikTok has around 115 million monthly users, approaching the number of Instagram users in the US of around 131 million. TikTok is also seen far ahead of Snapchat, Reddit and even Pinterest.
