United States Labels Tencent and CATL as Companies Linked to China's Military

The United States is ready to label a number of Chinese companies that are prohibited from trading with companies or firms in the United States. Recently, the United States Department of Defense has added two companies to the list of companies linked to the Chinese military, namely Tencent and battery manufacturer CATL.

For your information, this listing has not yet imposed any trade restrictions at this time. It may lead to difficulties or obstacles for American companies to invest in Tencent or CATL. At the same time, there is a possibility that these two companies will be removed from the list – more or less like what happened to Xiaomi before.

CATL today offers its battery technology to a number of vehicle manufacturers. Meanwhile, Tencent has a number of popular video games under them, including the WeChat application, and has also invested in a number of startups around the world including America.

Speaking about it, Tencent said that they are not a military-owned company or a supplier for this purpose. It was also emphasized that this listing will not have any impact on the company's business and operations at this time.
