For years, the trend of modifying the operating system of Android devices has been unpopular. I realize that since the Android security system was tightened by using the A/B partition storage system. In the future, rooting devices, installing custom ROMs and making other operating system modifications may no longer be possible.
Xiaomi recently changed the permission policy for unlocking the device's bootloader. It is now getting stricter, more difficult and not all users can get access. Xiaomi's reason is to ensure that the device's security is guaranteed and no one abuses it for criminal activities. This policy, however, will not affect the majority of ordinary users and will only affect application developers, custom ROM developers or users who are called power users.
This will also likely prevent the existence of fake global operating systems that often occurred on MIUI in the past. To get access to unlock Xiaomi devices, users now need to;
Answer a quiz.
Register interest while Xiaomi verifies identity and qualifications.
Must have a SIM card in the device with an active Xiaomi account.
Only one device per year.
Have 14 days to complete all processes.
Will not be eligible to receive official Xiaomi updates.
This may also affect Xiaomi.eu developers, a community that specializes in converting the Chinese version of HyperOS into a global version with over-the-air update support. Are you a user who likes to do custom ROM or root your device and are disappointed with Xiaomi's decision? Please share your thoughts in the comments section.
