Apple ecosystem users often praise the fact that tethering support for accessories like AirPods is very easy and fast. Just open AirPods and they will appear on all other Apple devices they own. But this system is only given to Apple products at the moment. In an interview with Joe Rogan this week, Mark Zuckerberg said that he wants Apple to provide the same access to this system to their products.
In the example given, Zuckerberg wanted the process of tethering Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses to be simplified on an iPhone. But until now, this request has not been approved by Apple. The European Union (EU) last month revealed that Meta is the company that has made the highest request to Apple to open access to their ecosystem.
The EU ordered Apple to allow third-party accessory and application manufacturers to access additional ecosystems and provide support such as AirDrop to Android devices. According to the EU, this is to give better choices to users of member countries and not force them to use only Apple-made devices.
In the same interview, Zuckerberg also said that Apple has not created anything good in a long time, which is causing iPhone sales to start declining. This, according to the Facebook founder, is the reason why a 30% cut is taken from application developers on the App Store.
He added that the barrier to easy access to tethered devices like AirPods is also Apple's effort to ensure that third-party products will not compete with their products.
