Meta has never shared sales figures for its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses since they were launched three years ago. But yesterday, internal company information was leaked revealing that 1 million pairs of Ray-Ban Meta were sold in 2024, according to a report by The Verge.
Mark Zuckerberg said that now is the best time to introduce Meta AI-powered smart glasses to as many people as possible. He also questioned whether Meta wants to increase sales to 2 to 5 million pairs of smart glasses this year.
At this point, Meta still has a monopoly on the market for smart glasses with artificial intelligence (AI). Their position will be challenged after Samsung confirmed the development of the glasses with Android XR last week and Apple is also reportedly developing its own version with VisionOS.
