Yesterday, the iPhone 16e was announced as the most affordable iPhone 16 offered by Apple. It comes with the A18 chip and many must have thought that it was the same chip as the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. But Apple's official website confirmed that this is actually not true because the GPU on the iPhone 16e is different.
The A18 chip on the iPhone 16e is only equipped with a 4-core GPU compared to 5 cores on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. This is likely to differentiate the capabilities of the four products under the iPhone 16 series. Meanwhile, the number of CPU and NPU cores is still the same. Therefore, the ability to run applications and Apple Intelligence processing is more or less between the two chips with the difference only being seen when running applications that require graphics capabilities.
