Broadcom and TSMC Reportedly Looking to Buy Several Intel Businesses

Broadcom and TSMC are reportedly in talks to buy several Intel businesses. Broadcom is interested in buying Intel's chip design business while TSMC is interested in buying several manufacturing plants.

The two companies are believed to be in the early stages of discussions. Meetings with US government representatives were also held to ensure that Intel's sale to a Taiwanese company was not seen as a risk to national security.

As the company's fortunes began to falter, CEO Pat Gelsinger was asked to resign before being fired. Intel reportedly wanted to sell unprofitable businesses even after laying off more than 15,000 employees last year. Among the mistakes made were the production issues of Intel Gen-13 and Gen-14 chips that required replacement, as well as AI chips that failed to meet sales targets because they were not competitive with NVIDIA chips.
