Dell Ends Hybrid Work Policy – Employees Asked to Return to the Office Full-Time

Dell is one of the technology companies that has continued their hybrid work policy from outside the office even after the COVID-19 pandemic is over. With existing technology, their employees were previously seen as being able to work from anywhere without having to enter the office, reducing travel time from home to the office and back.

However, it now seems that Dell will withdraw this hybrid work policy, and through a leaked memo, it seems that the company will stop this hybrid work policy, and will require its employees to return to the office full-time.

This memo was issued by Dell CEO Michael Dell himself and stated that all employees using the hybrid plan and working outside the office will have to return to the office for every workday starting March 3, 2025. This memo was issued for Dell's global employees and is not limited to employees in the United States.

Among the reasons given seems to be that a 30-second face-to-face discussion is faster and more efficient than a chain of emails that could drag on all day when talking about the same subject.

There is no mention of teleconferencing software like Zoom or Google Meet which could also be used for such discussions.

Another reason given is that their employees in engineering, manufacturing and sales have already started working full-time in the office for a while.

However, Dell says that employees who live outside of a 1-hour commute are exempt from this directive, and can discuss with their managers to continue working hybrid and out-of-office as usual.
