It seems that the world cannot escape services that require users to pay for monthly subscriptions. Indirectly, normal life that buys products directly now requires a monthly commitment for them to remain usable. Most recently, EcoFlow will introduce a subscription plan to use their portable power station.
This subscription feature is said to be being tested with a small group of selected users. It is to be used with PowerStream, which is one of the features of their solar product offering. The PowerStream Balcony Sola System is a solar system for homes that uses a combination of portable batteries, a compact-micro inverter and a smart plug. Through it, users can set the amount of electricity they need to use according to the electrical appliances in the home – providing multiple savings on bills.
This subscription feature that is being tested is said to be for users to get a more sophisticated user experience, besides being the cost for EcoFlow to maintain this feature. This test has many EcoFlow users worried that the existing functions and features on their products could later be locked behind a subscription.
EcoFlow promises that this is just a test and there are no plans to lock existing features and functionality behind a subscription. The subscription feature that is being tested, if launched, will simply be an additional option for users.
