Fotos Launched as an Alternative to Instagram Focusing on Photos Only

Instagram was once a place to share photos. It was also a special app for iOS users only. After being introduced to Android and gaining a lot of users, Instagram is no longer a place to see photography results but has become a competitor to TikTok that focuses on videos. That's why apps like Fotos were launched.

After years in development and months of closed testing, Fotos has finally opened access to public beta for iOS and Android users. Fotos is an alternative to Instagram that focuses on photo sharing 100% without ads, without video support, no timeline algorithm and offers a chronological timeline view. Photos can also be used as a photographer's portfolio.

Users can leave comments on photo shares, but no follower count and number of likes will be displayed. Fotos seems to integrate the concept of Unsplash a little, where users can use keywords or specific terms to search for photos. To help photographers and users generate income, the Ambassador program is provided.

Ambassador is a monthly, annual or one-time lifetime subscription plan to get badges on profiles as well as profiles that can lock content for followers to pay to gain access. As of today, Foto has over 16,000 users and they have various goals to make this Instagram competitor platform a success.

For those interested, Foto is available in beta form on the Play Store and App Store. The current subscription prices are $5 (~RM22) per month, $50 (~RM220) per year and $500 (~RM2,203) for life for beta users only. After March 8th it will be $6, $60 and $600. A $10 monthly Pro+ plan will also be introduced soon.
