The Google Family Link app has received an update to the interface and features that are easier to use to control the use of children's devices. It now has three different tabs for Screen Time, location tracking and activity control on children's devices. Through these tabs, the actions you want to perform can be accessed faster without having to search through menus like the previous design.
Through the Screen Time tab, parents or guardians can see for themselves the time their children spend in their care locally. Controls to automatically lock devices can also be done through this tab. Time limits and setting schedules when devices can be used are also accessed through the same tab.
The control tab can control which applications can be installed, allow the installation of applications requested by children and see the activities of the websites they browse. While the tracking tab allows the child's location to be tracked at all times for safety reasons.
The School time mode that was recently introduced on the Fitbit ACE LTE and Samsung Galaxy Watch for Kids watches will also be provided to Family Link in the past few weeks. Through it, control of applications that can be used at school can be done in addition to allowing who can contact the child using the phone or messaging applications.
With all the above features, parents have the power in their hands to ensure safer and responsible smartphone use by children.
