Google Veo 2's generative artificial intelligence (AI) was launched in December and can generate videos based on prompts given by users. This week Google finally announced a fee of $0.50 (~RM 2.20) to generate a 1-second video or the equivalent of $30 (~RM 132) to generate a minute-long video.
In comparison, ChatGPT Pro subscribers are given 10,000 credits per month to generate images using Sora. A 480p video of up to 20 seconds generated requires up to 150 credits, while a 1080p video of up to 20 seconds requires up to 2000 credits. ChatGPT Pro subscribers have to pay $200 (~RM 880) per month.
Various generative AIs have now been used to produce films and even TV series. The Disney+ series Secret Invasion was criticized for using it to create the opening video. Then last year, the KRU group produced the Voodoo music video also with the help of generative AI without major negative reactions from local artists.
