The evolution of vehicles differs depending on where they are created. The K-Car in Japan exists because of the need for compact vehicles that can be used on narrow roads. Muscle Cars exist in the United States for long journeys on roads that are 90% straight. In India, auto rickshaws are motorized taxis used in major cities as a mode of public transport but they contribute to air pollution.
Therefore, Hyundai has launched two concept electric vehicles specifically for the Indian market to address this problem. Both have a compact design with the ability to carry up to four passengers. They have a suspension system that can be adjusted to be higher to overcome flooded areas.
The open cabin also allows fresh air to cool passengers without the need for an air conditioning system. Hyundai is collaborating with TVS Motor, a local firm, to produce two EV concepts specifically for India. At this time, they only plan to offer a three-wheeled version first as a replacement for auto rickshaws that do not pollute the air.
