India Introduces Special Domain Names for Banks to Fight Fraud

India, through the Reserve Bank of India, is now introducing a special domain name for its banks, with the suffix bank.in. This domain name will be offered to various banks in the country starting April 2025.

In addition to this special domain for banks, a special domain name for non-bank financial institutions will also be offered, with the suffix fin.in. Starting April 2025, all banks will be required to operate using this new domain name.

This offer is expected to make it easier for users to check the websites they visit, while avoiding fraudulent sites.
