Google today announced that iOS device owners can now finally purchase ebooks and audiobooks directly from the Play Books app. Until now, purchases could not be made because Play Books does not support payments through the App Store. If a purchase is made today, users will be taken to a third-party payment system that is now allowed by Apple.
Apple only said that purchases made are not tied to an App Store account and all arrangements for refunds after purchase must be made with Google. They are also not responsible for any privacy issues that arise when leaving the App Store ecosystem. The website will open and purchases can be finalized through a web browser. This purchasing system is already available today after the Play Store app for iOS was updated.
