iPhone 16e Uses First C1 Modem Designed Entirely by Apple

The iPhone 16e, which was launched early this morning, is the first Apple device to be equipped with a C1 modem designed entirely by Apple. According to Apple, all C1 systems based on Apple Silicon will promise to save power consumption and thus give the iPhone 16e the best battery performance compared to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 which have the same screen size.

The effort to develop the C1 took a long time and was started to reduce Apple's dependence on modems produced by Qualcomm. Apple used to use Intel modems but their unsatisfactory performance forced them to use Qualcomm modems even though both companies sued each other in court.

Next for Apple is to develop WiFi and Bluetooth chips so that they no longer use Broadcom components. With the C1, it will open a new era for Apple as a modern manufacturer that will most likely also be included in all other products including the MacBook.
