LinkedIn has updated their latest user figures, showing that Malaysia now has over 8 million registered users on the platform. Overall, LinkedIn has over 1 billion registered users in 200 countries worldwide.
With this figure of over 8 million registered users, it also leads to LinkedIn being subject to licensing requirements for social media operations. The last time it was shared was by MCMC in discussions with LinkedIn for this licensing purpose.
Effective January 1, 2025, Malaysia has set the requirements for social media with over 8 million registered users and having an operating license in Malaysia. Among those who have registered so far are TikTok, WeChat, and Telegram. Meta is still in the process of obtaining their operating licenses, while X says they do not have enough 8 million users in Malaysia.
