Malware Uploaded as a Game on Steam Platform

Last week, a computer game called PirateFi was uploaded to the popular digital game store Steam as a beta game, and was downloaded by several hundred users.

According to a report by PCGamer, after this game is downloaded and played for the first time, if the computer does not have anti-virus software, it will infect your computer and then steal the personal data contained within it.

There have been several reports on the Steam forums where Microsoft, Roblox and other accounts have been stolen after downloading and playing this game, where not only unknown transactions have been made, but the passwords for these accounts have also been changed without their knowledge.

A game called PirateFi released on Steam last week and it contained malware. Valve have removed the game two days ago.

Steam is aware of this issue, and has sent an email to their users who have downloaded the game, advising them to run a full scan with anti-virus software to confirm the infection and to reinstall the new Windows operating system on their computers to ensure that their computers are no longer infected with the virus.

In the meantime, it has also been discovered that the same PirateFi malware has been spread via Telegram, where a group was created to advertise moderation jobs that would pay $17 (~RM75) per hour for this task. It was discovered that this group was a chatbot that would answer any user questions, and try to get users to download the application on their computers.
