Meta to Launch 6 AI-Powered Wearables This Year

Meta seems to have found a formula for selling physical devices through Meta Ray-Ban. Over 1 million pairs of these smart glasses were sold last year, prompting Samsung to launch a similar product with Android XR in the near future. This year, Meta will double down on its efforts to dominate the AI-powered wearables market by launching six new products.

In a memo written by Meta CTO Andrew “Boz” Bosworth, they realized that physical AI products were selling better than smart screens like the Meta Portal. This memo was given to employees last November, and it clearly shows the company’s current direction is no longer developing the meta-world, even though the company’s name was changed to Meta to focus on it a few years ago.

One of them is smart glasses with built-in screens, AI glasses with Oakley and Meta were also rumored to be bringing back the smartwatch project that was stopped in 2022.

Business Insider reported that Meta called 2025 The Year of Greatness. Meta will also focus on mixed reality products and with Horizon World integration.
