With the latest Microsoft Windows 11 24H2 operating system update, Microsoft has also recently updated the listing of processor chips that can be used with the latest version of this operating system.
Before the 24H2 update, the Windows 11 operating system was seen supporting the processor chip series from the 7th generation Kaby Lake to the Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake processor chip series that were launched last year. With this latest update, it is seen that Microsoft has removed the listing of the 8th generation to the 10th generation processor chip series, Comet Lake is now no longer listed.
Through several reports shown, the update of this list is to ensure that in the future, all laptops released this year will at least use Intel's 11th generation Rocket Lake processor chips and above.
This is also not surprising because these processor chips are no longer manufactured by Intel. In fact, Intel has also started the process of stopping the production of their 12th generation Alder Lake processor chips recently.
For users of existing 8th to 10th generation processor chips, you can continue to use your laptop running Windows 11 without any problems. For Windows 10, as you know, support for the operating system has ended and you will have to pay to get security updates.
