With the Samsung Galaxy S25 series going on sale in Malaysia today, there must be many users of older Samsung devices who want to know what OneUI 7 features will be available on their devices. In an article published by Samsung this week, there is some bad news that we have to share with you this morning, namely that not all artificial intelligence (AI) features on the Galaxy S25 series will be provided on older devices.
According to Sally, EVP and Head of Framework R&D Team at Samsung Mobile eXperience, features that require the Personal Data Engine (PDE) system will not be supported on older devices. PDE requires a powerful NPU that only exists on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip.
Therefore, among the features that will not be supported on older devices are the Now Bar, Now Brief and the ability to search for images better using keywords in the Gallery application. PDE always stores user data to make it easier to search for data when a question is asked. PDE was introduced through the Galaxy S25 series by doing all the processing from the device without the need for an internet connection.
New features that will be received are a more powerful Circle to Search and better integration of Gemini with built-in apps. Both of these features are possible because the processing is done in the cloud. This is news that may disappoint owners of older Samsung devices, but like last year's Galaxy S24 series, not all generative AI features are delivered to older devices.
