Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI today shared rough plans for their two upcoming models, namely GPT-4.5 and GPT-5. Sam said GPT-4.5 will arrive in a few weeks, while GPT-5 will follow in a few months.
GPT-4.5 is expected to be the last model on ChatGPT to offer a model without reasoning integration. As many of you know, today, ChatGPT offers two different models, namely the GPT4 model and a new model with the name “o” focusing on the integration of reasoning in providing answers.
Starting with GPT-5, ChatGPT and their API offerings will integrate both models into one, including the o3 model in it. It is said that the o3 model will not be offered separately, and will be available in GPT-5 only.
With this move, free GPT-5 users will be offered limited access to the automatic reasoning feature, but ChatGPT Plus users will be able to run reasoning support at a high level, and ChatGPT Pro users will support it at an even higher level.
With this partnership, we look forward to the introduction of GPT-4.5 in the coming weeks, ahead of the introduction of GPT-5.
OPENAI ROADMAP UPDATE FOR GPT-4.5 and GPT-5:
We want to do a better job of sharing our intended roadmap, and a much better job simplifying our product offerings.
We want AI to “just work” for you; we realize how complicated our model and product offerings have gotten.
We hate…
