Oppo Find N5 First Look – Now Thinner

A new foldable screen device is coming and what is it called? Oppo Find N5! This device is not only foldable but also has improvements that are hard to ignore. Oppo is also continuing its partnership with Hasselblad in creating a better mobile photography experience.

I have seen three generations of foldable screen devices by Oppo and various feature and function improvements are continuously provided to improve quality over time. Recently I was given the opportunity again to have a brief experience with the Oppo Find N5 before its official launch on February 20, 2025.

Although there are no specifications to share at the moment, I can focus on other important aspects that make the Find N5 an interesting device. At first glance, the Oppo Find N5 may look like its previous models because it maintains a similar folding design. But Oppo has actually made significant improvements to this Find N5.

For example, the Find N5 has a thinner build with a thickness of only 8.9mm when folded, making it more comfortable to use. In comparison, the Find N3 has a different thickness when folded. As I recall, the Find N3 has a thickness of around 12.3mm when folded.

This is where it shows that Oppo has made significant improvements in the design of the Find N5 making it thinner and more comfortable to use. The build is also still flat like the Find N3, with rounded edges.

Honestly, I have no problem with the features mentioned earlier because it really provides good comfort. Holding the Find N5 also feels solid in the hand which is another advantage of the design of this device. Even with a thinner build, Oppo still maintains a solid feel to this device. This solid feel certainly gives users more confidence to use this device every day.

However, this view is my own and of course may differ from the views of others. The reason is, everyone has their own views and priorities in evaluating a device. So, if you want to know what my editor-in-chief, Effi Saharudin, has to say, stay tuned for her review in the upcoming article. I'm sure her views will provide a different and interesting perspective since Effi herself has previously tested the Find N2 and Find N3 devices.

Touching on the type of finish, my experience holding the Find N5 feels like matte or in Malay, we call it pusam. It gives a rough textured feel that when held, it feels comfortable and can be gripped well. With this matte texture, it is believed to reduce fingerprints and make it more practical for everyday use.

In a brief session with the media, two color options for the Find N5 were shown: black and white. Both colors provide a classic option and I prefer white. Not sure why, but it presents a more premium feel with a marble-like motif.

The white color used also gives a luxurious appearance that makes the Find N5 more attractive. However, that doesn't mean that black is not attractive. Black also provides a sleek appearance with its own premium feel. For users who like a more minimalist appearance, black is definitely the right choice.

When opening the Find N5 screen, I noticed that the internal display is almost crease-free. I can still feel the crease in the middle of the screen by placing my finger and notice it when looking at the screen closely. However, in terms of normal use, the crease is almost invisible. If you look closely, the camera bump on the Find N5 is also thinner than the previous model. The camera arrangement has been changed to give it a neater appearance.

In addition, the Find N5 maintains the three cameras on the back with the Hasselblad logo clearly displayed on the camera module. This shows that Oppo's collaboration with the famous brand is still continuing in this new range. This means that users can enjoy various advantages of Hasselblad's technology and color profiles in the process of taking pictures using the device's camera.

On the side, there is still a power button that is also integrated with a side fingerprint scanner. On the same side, there is also an audio adjustment button. In addition, the Alider Alert button is also included on the left side which provides additional convenience for controlling the device more easily. Whether to mute the device, change the ring mode, or other functions can be done through it without having to go through the settings menu.

This drop-down button is also actually already offered on the Find N3 showing consistency in practical design. Oppo also redesigned the USB-C port on the Find N5 to make it thinner and neater. In addition, the speaker and SIM slot also complete the bottom of the device along with the USB-C port.

At first glance, the Find N5 does stand out with its elegant design. The large foldable screen certainly provides a good visual experience. The thin design also makes this device easy to use. The Find N5 will be launched on February 20, 2025, and Malaysia will also welcome its presence to open up the opportunity for users to see the latest technology offered by Oppo.
