The Oppo Find N5 was launched today to the global market at a special event held in Singapore. It is another foldable screen device with a thin body and the first to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip but in a seven-core CPU variant only. An interesting chip choice because previously the Find X8 series was equipped with the Dimensity 9400 chip.
The device comes with a 6.62″ OLED 120Hz outer screen while the inner screen is a 8.12″ OLED 120Hz foldable. The screen is of the LTPO type that supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision content. The outer screen has a normal device screen ratio and the inner screen has a not very noticeable folding effect.
Even when closed, the Find N5 is only 8.93mm thick which is much thinner than the Z Fold6 (12.1 mm) and slightly thicker than the iPhone 16 Pro Max (8.3 mm). When opened, the device is only 4.21mm thick.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 512TB of UFS 4.0 storage, and a 5600 mAh battery that supports 80W SuperVOOC wired charging and 50W AirVOOC wireless charging. The battery size used is the second largest on a foldable device after the Vivo X Fold3 Pro which comes with a 5700 mAh battery.
The main camera consists of a 50MP wide angle, 8MP ultra-wide angle, and 50MP telephoto. Two selfie cameras on the outside and inside use 8MP sensors. The Hasselblad camera system and X-Pan mode are also included. In terms of the camera, the sensor size used is smaller than the Find X8 (50+50+50 MP) and Find N3 (48+48+64 MP).
The body of the device also passes the IPX9 waterproof standard, which is also the highest ever given to a foldable screen. As usual, there is a slide-out button and a fingerprint scanner built into the power button. One difference is that the Find N5 is only equipped with two speakers compared to three on the Find N3.
The operating system used is ColorOS 15 based on Android 15. Through this operating system, the Task Bar feature is included to facilitate the process of switching applications in tablet mode. Boundless View also allows up to three applications to be launched simultaneously. Because we are in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), the FInd N5 comes with the feature of automatically generating phone call transcripts complete with summaries, Google Gemini support, image editing also with AI and real-time translation features through the Translate application.
Continuing the AirDrop support on the Find X8, the Find N5 also now supports the macOS ecosystem. Files on the device can easily be transferred to macOS and the macOS desktop can also be accessed from the Find N5. This is through the 0+ Connect application.
The device is offered in two color options, namely Cosmic Black and Misty White. In Malaysia, the Oppo Find N5 is sold at a price of RM7999 each for the 16/512GB version. Pre-orders have been open since February 14 until February 27. Those who pre-order will receive free gifts in the form of a vegan leather magnetic case, a magnetic power bank, and a RM400 rebate.
