Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon announced that Arm is no longer pursuing its intention to terminate its pending technology license. Arm and Qualcomm have been at odds over the value of royalties due after Qualcomm acquired Nuvia. In a court case last year, Qualcomm was found not guilty of paying royalties at a lower rate than previously agreed with Arm.
Arm threatened to terminate its chip technology license in October last year, the same day the Snapdragon 8 Elite was announced at the Snapdragon Summit. This is because the 8 Elite uses the Oryon CPU developed by Nuvia. Nuvia is the company that produced the design for Apple Silicon that changed Apple's computer chip architecture from X86 to Arm.
In the lawsuit filed by Arm, they asked that all chips developed by Nuvia using Arm technology be destroyed for allegedly violating the terms and conditions of the license paid.
