Reddit this week published its latest financial statements ending in the last quarter of 2024. Interestingly, through the partnership, it is now seen that Reddit generates almost 10% of its revenue by licensing Reddit content to others.
Currently, among the companies that have licensed Reddit content are Google and OpenAI. With the explosion of the artificial intelligence arena, various models require a lot of training data, and the millions of content offered through Reddit are seen to be very helpful in this direction.
Reddit is still screening a number of collaboration partners, since they also have some specific requirements in licensing their content. It is not yet known whether other artificial intelligence companies will also license Reddit content for the purpose of training their respective models.
In addition to Reddit, several media companies have also begun to license their content to companies that develop artificial intelligence models such as OpenAI.
