Saudi Arabia Invests in Sports Streaming Service, DAZN

Saudi Arabia through its sports-focused investment vehicle, SURJ Sports Investment, has now invested in sports streaming service, DAZN. Through this investment, SURJ takes a minority stake in DAZN.

SURJ was formed in Saudi Arabia in 2023, with a focus on investing in the sports industry, including various elements and ecosystems for it – involving broadcasting, digital platforms, grassroots programs, and also initiatives involving fans and supporters. This is also a long-term strategic step to grow the sports industry.

DAZN is available in more than 200 countries including Malaysia, offering access to a variety of sports content through it. The investment will also see the establishment of DAZN MENA which will focus on targeting sports in Saudi Arabia, in addition to strengthening Saudi Arabia's position as an investment center for the sports industry.

The amount of the investment was not disclosed by both parties. According to previous reports, it is said to be around $1 billion.
