The Line is a project to build the world's longest building in Neom, Saudi Arabia. This project, which is believed to cost up to $1 trillion, will house 9 million people in a building 170 kilometers long. Now, according to a report by the Saudi Gazette, construction of the first phase of The Line has begun.
For the past two years, only the building site has been excavated. The first phase is called Hidden Marina and is 2.5 kilometers long and 500m high. It will house a port for ships and also the world's tallest stadium that will be used for the 2034 World Cup.
When completed, Hidden Marina alone will have a floor area of 21 million square meters or 53 times the floor area of the PETRONAS Twin Towers. It can also house 200,000 people in 80,000 residential units when completed by 2030.
The Line will house all basic needs such as schools, shopping malls, public parks, hospitals and more in one building. Because everything is local, residents use public transportation to the fullest.
