WhatsApp is developing a feature that will allow users to place profile links from various social media on the app. This step is part of a wider update aimed at improving user convenience. In addition, it gives them the freedom to share their respective social media profiles on other platforms.
With this new Profile Links, users can choose to add links from various social media to their WhatsApp Messenger Standard account. This new function will be available in the profile settings section and can be modified for privacy purposes including removing the link at any time. Meanwhile, users who do not want to display their social media profiles on WhatsApp will have the option not to add any links. Instagram is said to be the first application to be supported first before expanding to other platforms in the future.
It should be noted that a similar feature is actually available on WhatsApp Business. However, there is an important difference for the process of adding to a WhatsApp Messenger Standard account. Where WhatsApp Business users who want to link their account to Instagram will need to go through the ownership verification process before the link is added. Meanwhile, adding a link to any WhatsApp Messenger Standard account does not require such verification and can be done as usual.
