You Can Still Use Notepad on Windows Without Logging in to a Microsoft Account

Windows 11 users were recently in a state of uproar when they were using the Notepad app to take notes, suddenly a window appeared asking them to log in to their Microsoft account. The app, which has been able to be used as is, now requires user identity verification. However, it was actually just a misunderstanding and you can still use Notepad without logging in to a Microsoft account.

We previously reported that Notepad would receive the integration of a writing assistance feature powered by generative artificial intelligence technology. Considering Notepad is a Microsoft product, the AI feature that will be included is a writing assistance tool powered by Copilot. The login request on Notepad is only if the user wants to use the AI feature. Otherwise, it can still be used as usual.

However, the window directing users to log in is not a surprise. Microsoft often inserts “ads” to promote their other digital products. Like in the Phone Link application, there are links to download various other applications that should not even need to be included.
