AirAsia Bans Powerbanks on Flights – Effective 1 April 2025

AirAsia has today updated its flight policy, announcing that it will ban the use and charging of powerbanks on all its flights, effective 1 April 2025.

All passengers can carry powerbanks on flights, and they must be kept with the passenger. The powerbank cannot be placed in the overhead compartment, nor in luggage. Each passenger can only carry a powerbank not exceeding 20,000mAh or 100Wh.

Throughout the flight, powerbanks cannot be used, including to charge other electronic devices. This measure is taken in line with current aviation standards, thus reducing any incidents involving battery risks during flights.

Previously, several other airlines have also issued similar instructions, including Malaysia Airlines and Batik Air.
