Alexa+ Virtual Assistant Launched – Powered by Artificial Intelligence

Amazon Alexa’s virtual assistant was updated early this morning with it now powered by artificial intelligence (AI) to make it smarter to help users manage their daily lives. The new Alexa+ service can interact with users in the same way as ChatGPT and Gemini.

In a demo shared by Amazon, among the new capabilities of Alexa+ is understanding what Ring cameras, which are also under the same ecosystem, are seeing. Users can ask Alexa+ if there is a package delivery at home. Using camera activity recordings, it can tell how many items have been delivered.

It can also be instructed to schedule various daily agendas on the calendar. If it detects overlapping events, it will provide suggestions on where activities can be changed. In addition, it can tell when an Uber car will arrive, the location of interesting restaurants in a location and buy concert tickets all through voice commands.

Alexa+ is supported on Echo Show devices first before support is also provided to third-party devices. It can be used by Amazon Prime customers now or subscribed for a fee of $20 per month. There is also Alexa+ Kids which can tell stories and chat with child users.
