Last August, Google introduced Gem under Gemini. It is a tool for users to build their own AI chatbots based on Gemini for more specific tasks. Gemini Gem has been limited to Gemini Advanced customers since last year and has recently been opened to free users as well.
Just open the Gemini website, which is the only place to build this chatbot – users will be presented with Brainstormer, Career Guide, Coding Partner, Learning Coach, and Writing Editor as five examples of AI chatbots. While building this chatbot, users are also allowed to upload files such as documents to add context in addition to a long prom – explaining what the chatbot is for.
Gem can only be built on the Gemini website, but can be accessed on the app and can also be shared. I tried Gem when it was still using the old model as a tour guide chatbot and it was difficult to use but now with Gemini 2.0 or the newer Gemini 2.5 Pro – Gem is definitely smarter and more useful.
