As we all know, electric vehicle ownership is increasing in Malaysia, and in line with that, so are EV charging companies. Many of these charging services are also seen coming with their own apps to allow you to book a place and pay for the charging service, and this forces electric vehicle owners to download many apps for just one purpose.
Recently, PLANMalaysia is reported to be in the process of developing an app to collect all these EV charging services on one platform. When completed, this app is expected to allow electric vehicle owners to find, book and pay for charging quickly and easily.
PLANMalaysia is also reported to be in discussions with the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corp (MGTC) and the Malaysia Digital Department together with charging companies to develop this app.
Among the challenges shown include integrating real-time data from these services and ensuring that the data received is accurate and precise.
The Malaysian government wants 10,000 electric vehicle charging stations to be developed by the end of 2026, and currently, as of December 31, 2025, 3,611 electric vehicle charging stations have been developed. In terms of the number of cars, 42,452 electric vehicles have been registered since 2018 until February this year.
It is currently unknown when this application will be completed.
